COURSE SCHEDULE

1. THE MAGICAL WORD – 13th April, 7.45AM – 9.00AM GMT
Words are extremely powerful, they have their own energy that attract us to them – they are indeed like magnets. Words are ultimately calling us! They can be a very powerful transformational tool, they can heal, and they can destroy – it all depends on how we use them. That’s why it is important to choose them wisely and ultimately use them with care. A word can become our personal mantra. A personal mantra is an affirmation to motivate and inspire us to be our best self. A word can also simply say how we are feeling in a given moment, its meaning goes beyond its graphic sign, it becomes the landscape of our inner world. Through the lines of previously written works we will find our magical word of the day to then start our creative journey.

  • Tools needed: A4 papers, coloured cards, scissors, glue, colourful materials such as pastels/crayons/paint/magazines, print any image you like that can inspire you and you can use during the creative process to create a collage, this helps to unlock creativity when stuck, so it’s always good to have this support.

2. DISCOVER YOUR INNER POETRY WITH THE HELP OF CUT-UP TECHNIQUE  – 20th April, 7.45AM – 9.00AM GMT
Moving from the cut up method invented by W. Burroughs, we will be able give birth to our inner poet. The writing we are going to create will be coming from the “unknown”, and it may be surprising to learn how such a fun technique can actually open doors to personal understanding helping us to recognise and communicate emotions we can’t express otherwise. Colours and images will help us to add meaning to our writing.

  • Tools needed: A4 papers, coloured cards, any drawing/painting material, glue, scissors, black marker, some coloured markers, magazines, print out the text of your favourite song in size 16, print any image you like that can inspire you and you can use during the creative process to create a collage, this helps to unlock creativity when stuck so always good to have this support.

3. KINTSUGI POETRY – 27th April, 7.45AM – 9.00AM GMT
We will explore the meaning of the Japanese art of kintsugi, the art of repairing broken ceramics by filling the cracks with gold. Through this art, the broken object will gain new life and become even more precious because of its scars. The Japanese art of kintsugi teaches that broken objects are not something to hide but to display with pride. We will apply the art of kintsugi to our written pages, to underline how precious they are, no matter how they came out of our own pen. We will add colours and images to our kintsugi poetry to enrich the meaning of our writings.

  • Tools needed: A4 papers, coloured cards, any drawing/painting material, glue, scissors, black marker, some coloured markers, old novel books you can rip (if you don’t have please photocopy few pages from a book), magazines, print any image you like that can inspire you and you can use during the creative process to create a collage, this helps to unlock creativity when stuck so always good to have this support, and don’t forget some gold (can be glitters, marker, paint).

4. WORDS ARE CALLING YOU – 4th May, 7.45AM – 9.00AM GMT
By connecting to the present moment, we will hunt our hidden inner poetry and bring it to surface through the support of already written pages. We will learn a very simple yet powerful creative process inspired by Black out poetry and Caviardage method that will allow us to find our voice, express emotions and feelings, communicate with others and connect with our inner self. The meaning of words will be then enriched by the creation of images or spots of colour. The fundamental question of this creative process is “What do I need to hear right now?” Once you have asked yourself this question you are ready to discover the words in the page, they are hidden and waiting to be given a second life!

  • Tools needed: A4 papers, coloured cards, any drawing/painting material, glue, scissors, black marker, some coloured markers, old novel books you can rip (if you don’t have please photocopy few pages from a book), magazines, print any image you like that can inspire you and you can use during the creative process to create a collage, this helps to unlock creativity when stuck so always good to have this support.

5. STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS IN WORDS AND IMAGES – 11th May, 7.45AM – 9.00AM GMT
The stream of consciousness is a style of writing characterised by the sudden rise of thoughts and lack of punctuationIt is intended to render the flow of multiple impressions – visual, auditory, physical, associative, and subliminal – that interfere in the consciousness of an individual and form part of his awareness along with the trend of his rational thoughts. This technique usually uses the interior monologue, the one most of us always activate when ruminating on things happening daily. Interior dialogue can be very draining so it is useful to get it out on paper to calm the mind and see things more clearly. Also, we can create from that monologue something new and beautiful and take few steps away from what is negative.

  • Tools needed: A4 papers, coloured cards, any drawing/painting material, glue, scissors, black marker, some coloured markers and old magazines which are not mandatory, print any image you like that can inspire you and you can use during the creative process to create a collage, this helps to unlock creativity when stuck so always good to have this support.

6. LOOK BACK AND SEE YOUR GROWTH – 18th May, 7.45AM – 9.00AM GMT
This last session will help you to focus on steps you have made during the course. We will blend all the techniques learned to create our last work of art that will objectify our journey together through images and words. We will explore the symbol of tree and what it represents to us and how we can make it a powerful self-development tool to creatively see our personal growth expressed through symbols, colours and words.

  • Tools needed: A4 papers, coloured cards, any drawing/painting material, glue, scissors, magazines, print any image you like that can inspire you and you can use during the creative process to create a collage, this helps to unlock creativity when stuck so always good to have this support and any natural material you may want to add.
