The travel industry has experienced trying times as a result of recent events; to support workers within the sector, we at Talent Courtyard, TravelMole and ACE Travel Management united to design and deliver the Travel Industry Virtual Wellness Day. The event included a variety of workshops such as relaxing yoga and meditation practice, poetry class, emotional freedom techniques, mindful breathwork and a classical contemporary piano concert. The workshops were followed by an exciting quiz, networking event and raffle, where unique prizes were won including a £300 travel voucher, a bottle of Lauren Perrier and fine Israeli wine, bespoke care boxes and a designer couture mask featured in British Vogue!

During the event, all five senses were engaged through our educational, stimulating and interactive workshops. These provided the ultimate wellness experience and a safe and sociable space to switch off from the outside world. The event brought laughter, positivity, engagement and collaboration, all in aid of the wonderful Mind charity, who have consistently provided advice and support to empower anyone experiencing mental health issues.

According to Mind statistics, one in six people will report experiencing a common mental health issue in any given week, with 22% of those surveyed now reporting ‘poor’ or ‘very poor’ mental health, despite no previous wellbeing concerns. As ever, it is essential to support and connect with one another and that is exactly what our Wellness Day encouraged. We were delighted to have attendees from all over the world, including a wonderful participant who tuned in at 3:00am her time from the USA to enjoy our activities! Alongside our joyful conversations and workshops, we had important discussions regarding wellness and mental health to enhance self-awareness and an understanding of those around us.

We have been required to constantly adapt to the changes evoked by recent events, which is likely to have an impact on our mental wellbeing. The workshops available at Talent Courtyard offer attendees a starting point; a reframe of thoughts or practical activity to boost positivity and general wellbeing. We provide the initial tools, education and community to enhance wellbeing through our innovative and creative workshops. If attended once, these workshops can be useful, but if they are regularly and actively engaged with, they can be life changing. This is why we encourage our community to consistently implement these techniques into their daily lives to truly experience a lasting impact.
